Maharaja Ranjit Singh, also known as the "Lion of

Maharaja Ranjit Singh, also known as the "Lion of Punjab," was a visionary leader who unified the warring Sikh factions and established a powerful Sikh Empire in the early 19th century. Born on November 13, 1780, in Gujranwala (now in Pakistan), he rose to prominence through his military prowess and diplomatic acumen. Despite losing sight in one eye due to smallpox in childhood, he became a formidable warrior and a just ruler. Under his reign, Punjab flourished as a secular empire where Sikhs, Hindus, and Muslims coexisted harmoniously. His capital, Lahore, became a center of art, culture, and administration. Ranjit Singh modernized his army with European training and weaponry, earning respect even from the British, who avoided direct confrontation with him.
On his death anniversary (June 27, 1839), we remember Maharaja Ranjit Singh as a symbol of courage, unity, and progressive governance. His empire stretched from the Khyber Pass to Kashmir and included parts of modern-day India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Unlike many rulers of his time, he promoted religious tolerance and appointed officials based on merit rather than faith. His golden throne, the Koh-i-Noor diamond, and the grandeur of his court remain legendary. However, after his death, the empire gradually declined due to internal strife and British expansion. Yet, his legacy endures as a unifier who shaped Punjab's history and left an indelible mark on the subcontinent.

A Tribute to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji on Their Martyrdom Day for Their Immense Sacrifice.
ਬਾਬਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਪਾਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਸਾਨੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਜ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦਿਵਸ ਤੇ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਣਾਮ ॥

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji ( Lachman Dev ), was a Sikh warrior and a commander of Khalsa army. At age 15 he left home to become a Hindu ascetic, and was given the name ‘'Madho Das Bairagi'’. Baba Ji established a monastery at Nanded, on the bank of the river Godavari, where in September 1708 he was visited by, and became a disciple of, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who came to Nanded to collect forces and live the last years of their life, Guru Ji gave Lachman Dev the new name of Banda Singh Bahadur.

After establishing his authority and Khalsa rule in Punjab, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji abolished the zamindari system, and granted property rights to the tillers of the land. Baba Banda Singh Ji was captured by the Mughals and tortured to death.
